The XRP Ledger (XRPL), which supports Ripple’s infrastructure, announced that it plans to start a home -based side chain (Sidechain) in the second quarter to ensure Ethereum compliance. The announcement was made at the APEX 2025 event in Singapore by Ripple’s CTO David Schwartz. The development process is carried out by Ripple and Peersyst.

This strategic step aims to expand the developer community and increase the usage areas by integrating the smart contract features of Ethereum into the XRPL ecosystem.

🧠 What is home, why is it important?

EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) is the universal executive environment in which all smart contracts working on Ethereum work. EVM compatibility allows a blocky to integrate with applications and developer tools in Ethereum.

Although the XRPL has already supported local smart contract support, it was not directly compatible with EVM. This limited Ethereum -based defi applications on the XRP Ledger. Thanks to the new Sidechain, this obstacle will be overcome.

It will combine XRPL’s low trading fees and high trading capacity with Ethereum’s smart contract power.

Currently, the launch of live and main network (mainnet) is planned in the second quarter.

To connect to XRPL Mainnet via the Axalar network

XRP (WRAPPED XRP) will be wrapped as the main wage token to be used in the transactions in the side chain.

Thanks to this structure, developers will easily carry Ethereum applications and will benefit from the low trading costs offered by XRP Ledger.

🌐 Ecosystem effect and other projects

XRP Ledger’s home -compliant process is not only a technical update, but also a strategic expansion. XRPL had previously offered home -based solutions through external protocols such as Flare Network. However, thanks to this new side chain, XRPL will be directly integrated with EVM.

EVM Sidechain also paves the way for the integration of new Dapps, NFTs, defi applications and interchangeable bridges to the XRP ecosystem.
