Human-Centered Blockchain Step from Worldcoin

Human-Centered Blockchain Step from Worldcoin

World, formerly Worldcoin, announced World Chain, a new blockchain network that prioritizes verified human users.

Worldcoin, known as the “proof of humanity” project founded by Sam Altman, launched World Chain, which is on the second layer of Ethereum, on October 17. According to the company’s statement, 15 million verified users who have “World ID” by scanning iris will now be able to use this network.

World Chain aims to increase the efficiency of Worldcoin and offer new functions to its users. The company stated that it developed World Chain to provide better service to Worldcoin token users and to bring more users to the project.

This new blockchain will specifically offer its verified users the advantage of accessing the block space before bots and providing free gas. With this step, World aims to strengthen the place of human users in the blockchain ecosystem and prevent the problems created by bots.

In addition to giving priority to only verified human users of World Chain, the network will also integrate with popular projects in the crypto world. World announced that important projects such as Optimism, Uniswap, Zerion and Alchemy will be included in the new network.

Optimism will provide the interoperability features of the network, Uniswap will enable asset swaps, Zerion will provide real-time APIs, and Alchemy will support developers. When World first announced World Chain in April 2023, it described this network as a “human-centered” approach and stated that it aimed to increase crypto adoption.

With the launch of World Chain, the company rebranded its name to World and also introduced a new version of its biometric device called “Orb.” This device is a biometric scanner in the shape of a shiny chrome sphere that authenticates Worldcoin users by scanning their iris.

The new Orb is powered by Nvidia hardware and will be five times more powerful and more efficient than its predecessor. It will also be smaller in size and have fewer parts. These innovations will make both the user experience and the scanning process of the device faster and smoother.

World also announced that it has started offering authentication options to its users through social media applications such as FaceTime, WhatsApp and Zoom.

Thus, users will be able to not only use the Orb device but also verify their identities through other popular platforms. These new integrations are considered part of World’s broad user acquisition strategy.

The Worldcoin project left beta in July 2023. The project was founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, current CEO Alex Blania, and Max Novendstern, CEO of biometric research company Mana.

Worldcoin is introduced as a digital identity project that aims to solve identity problems caused by rapid developments in artificial intelligence. It also aims to create a universal basic income model through the WLD token.

The project offers users a unique digital identity record, and this identity record is created as a result of iris scanning with the Orb device. Users who verify their identity can then participate in the free WLD token distribution.

However, World’s new network announcement did not significantly impact the WLD token price. According to CoinGecko, the WLD token price dropped by 2.1% on the day World Chain was announced.

Despite this decline, the new advantages that World provides to its verified users and its integrations with blockchain projects aim to increase interest in the project in the future. World aims to make a significant innovation in the crypto ecosystem by combining the world of authentication technologies and blockchain.
