US-Linked Crypto Projects Listed on CoinGecko

US-Linked Crypto Projects Listed on CoinGecko

Crypto data aggregation platform CoinGecko has announced a new category based on tokens with “significant connections” to the United States.

In the statement made on the

This category includes 18 different tokens with a total market cap of $432 billion. Projects included in the list include XRP, Solana, and President-elect Donald Trump’s recently launched “Official Trump” meme coin.

This new category has garnered both attention and criticism within the crypto community. CoinGecko did not choose to disclose the specific criteria used for the selection of tokens. This sparked controversy as some projects that were considered clearly linked to the United States were not included in the list.

For example, Algorand is one of the notable projects not included in the list. Algorand’s founder, Silvio Micali, works as a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

However, Algorand Foundation may have been excluded from the list because it is based in Singapore. Some community members criticized this exclusion, arguing that the project’s American roots should have been taken into account.

Additionally, well-known projects such as Cardano, Injective and Worldcoin were not included in the list. Cardano has long held a prominent place in the industry and is seen by many as having a US connection.

However, it remains unclear why CoinGecko excluded these projects. So far, the platform has not publicly commented on these shortcomings or its token selection methodology.

This led to further speculation within the community and wondered whether CoinGecko would update this category in the future.

Another criticism of the community is that the scope of this category should be better defined. Many users are wondering what criteria are taken into account for a token to be considered linked to the USA.

While some consider it sufficient for a project’s founding team to be in the USA, others consider it a more important criterion that the corporate headquarters of the project is located in the USA.

CoinGecko has not yet provided a clear answer to such questions. However, it is thought that the list may be updated by taking into account feedback from the community.

This move by CoinGecko may increase interest in monitoring country-related projects in the crypto world. Evaluating US-based or US-related projects in a separate category may further increase investors’ interest in these projects.

However, transparency is of great importance for such initiatives to be successful. CoinGecko is expected to make more detailed statements on this subject in the future.

CoinGecko’s “Made in USA” category stands out as an interesting initiative focusing on projects related to the USA. However, the lack of transparency regarding the category has caused controversy within the community.

It will be important for CoinGecko to improve this list by responding to feedback from the community for greater acceptance of such categories.
