SeaDream Yacht Club Receives Payments in Bitcoin and 200 Cryptocurrencies
Norwegian luxury cruise operator SeaDream Yacht Club announced that it has begun accepting more than 200 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, for cruises and full yacht charters.
This development was announced at the 2025 WAGMI Blockchain Conference, with SeaDream Yacht Club claiming to be the first cruise operator to accept crypto as a payment option for all its cruises. The conference was an important event that underlined the increasing acceptance of cryptocurrencies in the travel industry.
SeaDream Yacht Club has started accepting all crypto payments in collaboration with Coinbase Commerce. Coinbase Commerce is an on-chain payment processor developed by US-based crypto exchange Coinbase.
This platform allows merchants to accept digital currency payments from all corners of the world. SeaDream accepts cryptocurrency payments with Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and over 200 other cryptocurrencies.
This partnership was an important step for SeaDream Yacht Club, as as cryptocurrencies become adopted by more individuals and industries, SeaDream strives to transform the travel experience by responding to customer demands.
By using this new payment option, SeaDream aims to serve its customers worldwide faster and more efficiently. Additionally, SeaDream Yacht Club has also started offering a digital payment solution for cryptocurrency payments.
This solution will be integrated into the existing reservation system in the coming weeks. This will enable customers to make payments with crypto money more easily.
This initiative by SeaDream Yacht Club sets an example for other companies in the travel industry. In recent years, the travel industry has begun to rapidly adopt digital payment options.
The digitalization of the travel industry allows users to make faster and more efficient transactions, while also eliminating the costs associated with currency exchange. This provides a great advantage, especially in international travel.
SeaDream Yacht Club’s start to accept payments with cryptocurrencies is also compatible with the company’s goal of expanding its global customer base. This development once again reveals the impact of cryptocurrencies on the travel industry.
While cryptocurrencies are becoming increasingly popular as digital payment methods, the fact that companies are starting to accept these innovative payment methods is an important part of the digital transformation in the industry.
This development is also an indication that more companies in the travel industry may start accepting digital currencies. Especially the increasing number of cryptocurrency users around the world and the new generation of technology-savvy customers prefer such payment methods.
In recent months, Florida-based Virgin Voyages also began accepting ship reservations made with Bitcoin.
Additionally, in September, blockchain and crypto-focused online travel agency Travala collaborated with travel marketplace Skyscanner, allowing Skyscanner users to access Travala.com’s inventory of 2.2 million hotels.
SeaDream Yacht Club’s start to accept cryptocurrencies is another example of the acceleration of digital transformation in the travel industry. Cryptocurrencies appear to be a rapidly growing market and the travel industry is keeping up with this change.
These new payment methods will help travel companies further strengthen their relationships with international customers.
