Pixelverse Founder Kori Leon: "We Avoid Unrealistic Promises"

Kori Leon, co-founder of Pixelverse, stated that their organization has taken a different approach to the gaming world and aims to build a strong user base by avoiding “unrealistic” promises. These statements provide an important perspective on the challenges facing the gaming industry, and Web3-based games in particular.

Web3, a technology that supports the decentralized structure of the third generation internet, continues to play an important role in the gaming world. However, some critics argue that many game projects in this field fail to achieve the great success they promise and, as a result, leave players disappointed.

Web3 games promise to offer players ownership of in-game assets, often using innovations offered by blockchain technology. However, some projects, despite raising large amounts of funds, did not achieve the expected success due to deficiencies in gameplay quality.

In this context, Kori Leon stated that some Web3 game projects could not fulfill their promises, and this led to disappointment in investors and players.

“The current state of the games is disappointing,” Leon said. “Recent launches, promoted as AAA games and heavily backed by venture capital at high valuations, have offered poor gaming experiences and failed to attract players other than those speculating on the game’s intrinsic asset values,” he said.

The point Leon points out here is that although some game projects are released with great promises, the gaming experience cannot meet expectations and therefore cannot create a real player base.

Leon said that Pixelverse took a different path to overcome these challenges and focused on building a strong community. Pixelverse managed to attract 50 million players with its Telegram mini-game Pixeltap in June.

Leon stated that the reason behind this success was not to make “unrealistic promises”. That is, Pixelverse aims to attract users and investors with realistic goals and ensure sustainable success in the long term.

Leon emphasized that upcoming infrastructures and new game releases will offer a more AAA experience. He stated that the company has already laid solid foundations for distribution and community building. He noted that this leaves the Pixelverse well-positioned for “endless possibilities.” So, Pixelverse’s strategy aims for more robust and sustainable growth by focusing on user satisfaction and community support.

Randy Wasinger, founder and CEO of CryptoSlam, emphasized that gaming is a critical mechanism for Web3 to attract new users. “I definitely think gaming is a critical user acquisition mechanism for Web3,” Wasinger said.

“I am waiting for that ‘killer’ game that will bring not a few hundred or a few thousand people, but millions of people,” he said. Wasinger stated that great success is inevitable for Web3 games and that he believes that this type of game will come over time.

However, Wasinger also noted that the best games require long development cycles and involve large amounts of capital invested in the process. He said he hopes gaming-focused blockchains like Immutable, Ronin and Mythos will create this potential “killer” game.

He believes that such innovative gaming projects can lead to revolutionary software titles that appeal to large audiences and attract new players. So, the Web3 gaming industry is still full of great opportunities, but it takes time and patience to seize these opportunities.
