This acquisition was made with the aim of increasing Kaiko’s effectiveness in the European exchange-traded products (ETP) market and providing more comprehensive services for institutional investors.

In a blog post published on November 12, Kaiko stated that this merger is within the framework of the firm’s strategy to strengthen regulated crypto financial products.

By acquiring Vinter, Kaiko plans to respond to the growing demand for crypto indices from institutional investors. The firm emphasized that this move comes in line with increasing demand, especially with the successful launch of spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the US.

Kaiko CEO Ambre Soubiran stated that the acquisition contributes to the company’s goals of expanding its global product portfolio and growing its customer base.

Soubiran said, “Institutional interest in crypto indices has been rapidly increasing recently. “By coming together with Vinter, we will be able to offer stronger and more comprehensive solutions to meet this demand,” he said.

Although Kaiko did not disclose the financial size of the deal, he stated that it was one of the largest acquisitions in the company’s history. This move represents Kaiko’s third major acquisition to date.

The company stepped into the field of developing quantitative analysis products by purchasing a data company called Kesitys in April 2022. In June, it strengthened its analysis capabilities by acquiring CoinShares’ Napoleon Index.

Kaiko was founded in 2014 by Ambre Soubiran and has since provided institutional investors with in-depth insights by providing data collection, normalization and distribution on crypto markets.

The company offers analysis services in various areas such as pricing, transaction volumes and blockchain metrics. Kaiko’s customer base includes exchanges, asset managers and financial institutions.

The total investment Kaiko has received to date has reached 91.1 million dollars. Its investors include important capital companies such as ConsenSys Mesh, Eight Roads, Revaia and HashKey Capital. This strong financial support allows Kaiko to achieve its goals of further growth and expansion.

Kaiko’s acquisition of Vinter comes at a time when interest in crypto products, especially regulated and institutional, is increasing. Vinter is a company specializing in ETP as a crypto index provider, and this acquisition is seen as an important step towards Kaiko’s goal of gaining a leading position in the exchange-traded products market in Europe.
