Kraken: "There is not even basic security awareness in crypto activities"
Kraken's security team said that the participants did not even take the most basic digital and physical security measures in crypto conferences. Operated devices, random QR codes and loudly lengths of lengths are a great risk.
Safety alarm in crypto events: “Devices are open, laans are outdoors, very listening too”
Crepto Exchange Kraken, in a new security report on June 5, warned sector players against increasing physical and digital security weaknesses in global crypto events.
According to Kraken Security Chief Nick Percoco, many participants put themselves at great risk with lack of basic awareness.
“In a crypto event, your device is not just a phone. It is your wallet, your investment and the spine of the ecosystem you work. Every laptop left exposed is an invited attack gate.”
Serious security deficits: Open devices, fake wifi, QR trap
The basic risks determined by the Kraken team are listed as follows:
Laptops and phones left in the exposed: Popular crypto protocols were left unlocked on the event tables and live wallet notifications were seen.
JUice Jacking Risk: A warning that the public USB charging stations in events may have been equipped with malware.
Fake WiFi Networks: Cyber attackers act like a “crypto -friendly” and set up fake wifi points, and unintentionally connected users to these networks.
QR Code Abuse: Although there is no case yet, it is possible for fraudsters to direct real QR codes to fake connections by changing labels.
“The safest method is to make transactions with a limited balance with a Burner Wallet’. Even if this wallet is seized, your main assets remain safe. ” - Nick Percoco
Critical Risk: Personal Information and Reserve Shares
The Kraken team reported not only digital security, but also the physical danger. Some of the participants discuss their loudness and wearing the Lanyard with their name and company information on their necks.
“A team member has witnessed that a few people wearing a laanyard at a point away from the event area discussed 6 -digit transaction volumes. Beware. There is surely someone who listens.”
Physical robbery cases are increasing
These warnings are not only speculation. Crypto Security Specialist Jameson Lopp, Github in the list of 29 different physical crypto robbery cases since the beginning of 2025 has recorded. The most up -to -date case took place in Argentina.
Jonathan Levin, CEO of Chainalysis, says that criminals are encouraged by the wrong perception that crypton is “without follow -up, and turned to more eye -catching methods.
The crypto community neglects personal security responsibility when talking about digital freedom. Conferences and major activities are not only the sharing of information, but also the areas where high -profile targets are collected. Your knowledge and behavior should be protected as well as your wallets.
The digital revolution says “Be your own bank, but that bank has to be physically protected. All industry players need to make “the password, not the behavior” safe.
