Fake Token Alert! Crypto Influencer's Account Was Hacked and Price Manipulated

Scammers targeted popular crypto influencers on platform X under the ticker GCR late Sunday night. In the compromised account, he shared a post predicting the price of the ORDI token, causing short-term price increases.

The hacker published promotional content for ORDI and Luna 2.0 tokens, which caused short-term price increases. GCR later confirmed the hack and asked its followers to ignore any promotional posts.

Interestingly, it is believed that someone at X.com was “bribed” into providing login information, resulting in a security breach.

“Two months ago I was notified of a bribe from someone affiliated with Twitter to gain access to my account, and I subsequently strengthened security,” he wrote. “But there can be no security if X employees get paid for admin access.”

After the hacker’s post, ORDI’s price increased from approximately $40 to $44. However, the rally was short-lived and the price fell again. The token is trading at $40 at the time of writing. Additionally, the Luna 2.0 price instantly rose 274%.

GCR’s warning about the hack caught the attention of several cryptocurrency watchers, who speculated on the possible cause of the attack.

For example, Bitcoin developer and observer Udi Wertheimer speculated that the hack of GRC’s X account could be part of a broader scam targeting celebrities and crypto influencers.

“With more niche celebrities popping up every minute on a long weekend without platform engineers, I urge you to be very careful,” he warned. Additionally, popular Chinese cryptocurrency blogger Colin Wu stated that the hacker “opened positions on OKX and Binance 6 minutes in advance.” Another cryptocurrency analyst, Miles Deutscher, commented that GCR’s hacker “missed the opportunity.”

“He could have chosen any credible microcap to increase by 10-20x, yet he chose ORDI and LUNA2 as ad for only a 10% increase.”

Previously, American rapper “Rich The Kid” posted a link to purchase RICH, a new token launched on the Solana memecoin creation platform pump.fun. According to DEX Screener data, the token’s market cap reached $90,000 within the first two hours of launch. However, the post was later deleted and no official statement was made by Rich The Kid confirming that it was a hack.

In parallel, the X account of American media celebrity Caitlyn Jenner introduced a new memecoin JENNER, also on the pump.fun platform. Apparently, the token has reached a market cap of $4.7 million since its launch. Considering the token’s sudden rise, many believed it was a hack.

Jenner strongly promoted this coin again a few hours ago, asking her followers to ignore influencers who told them not to buy the JENNER token. “People who say this want you to stay poor,” she wrote.
