As of May 7, 2025, the Ethereum developer enlargement announced its new update “Pectra”. This upgrade represents an important turning point on Ethereum’s long -term road map. Pectra’s main objective; Make Ethereum network more powerful and flexible in scalability, security and user experience. The upgrade attracts attention with its account abstraction, stinging reforms and Layer-2 integrations.

🔍 EIP-7702: New era in the transition to smart wallets One of the most striking elements of Pectra is the EIP-7702 standard recommended by Vitalik Buderin, one of the founding partners of Ethereum. This new protocol will enable wallets to temporarily behave as a smart contract. Thanks to the EIP-7702, users will only benefit from developed features in certain transactions, without fully converting their wallets into a contract. This structure makes multisig operations, security layers and customized transaction approval mechanisms much more accessible.

This innovation also means decrease in transaction fees, accelerating process verification processes and more flexible security policies on the user side. According to the Ethereum Foundation, this step will be a major turning point in the transition to the abstraction of the account.

🔁 Stinging Reforms: Exit time is shortened With Pectra, radical changes come in the stinging system. Currently, the Validators’ exit periods contain quite long and complex processes. With the new update, the stinging output time will be shortened and the active stake management of the Validators will become much more flexible. These changes will allow corporate investors to access a safer and more liquid stinging environment.

Tim Beiko, one of the Ethereum core developers, said that these stinging reforms will increase both the security and user participation of the network. At the same time, the efficiency of the Stinging Awards will be re -evaluated with these reforms.

⚙️ Expansion in Layer-2 harmony Ethereum’s long-standing Layer-2 Rollup solutions are integrated with pectra upgrade. New data access protocols, transaction sequential improvements and new block production logic will be applied especially for ZKEVM -compatible solutions. Thanks to this integration, Layer-2 solutions will become lower costly, faster and safer.

In addition, the applications on Layer-2 will establish a more fluent interaction with the main network. Thus, cross -chain operations between DAPPS) will become easier.

🧪 Test process and calendar The first testnet phase of the Pectra upgrade will be launched in July 2025. In this process, both developers and verifiers will be able to test new features. The main network integration is scheduled to take place in the autumn of 2025. During this time, developers will continue to work to identify possible security deficits and complete performance improvements.
