Bitget Wallet: Switching to Web3 with Telegram

Bitget Wallet: Switching to Web3 with Telegram

The new integration opens Telegram to the broader Web3 space, the Bitget Wallet team announced in a press release.

Cryptocurrency wallet provider Bitget Wallet has announced a software development kit called OmniConnect that allows developers to connect Telegram Mini Apps to multi-chain ecosystems. This integration extends Telegram’s existing functionality, allowing users to interact with various blockchains.

On September 27, the wallet provider stated in its press release that developers can connect Telegram Mini Apps to the broader crypto ecosystem using the OmniConnect development kit. This ecosystem includes the TON, Solana, and Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) blockchains.

A Bitget spokesperson stated that the integration enables Mini Apps to process and sign transactions across blockchain networks. Previously Telegram Mini Apps could only connect with The Open Network (TON).

But with the new integration, Bitget Wallet believes Telegram can become a “comprehensive gateway to Web3.” The wallet provider claims this will make the transition from Web2 to Web3 “more seamless.”

Bitget Wallet’s operations manager, Alvin Kan, stated in the announcement that the new integration closes a gap. “Previously, Telegram Mini Apps could only interact with the TON network, making it difficult to interact with other public chains,” Kan said.

“Bitget Wallet’s OmniConnect aims to close this gap and enables seamless multi-chain interaction through Bitget Wallet,” he explained. Kan also expressed that he is excited that developers and ecosystems will help build a “more open” Web3 environment on Telegram.

In addition, Bitget Wallet stated that it will announce other initiatives aimed at strengthening the Telegram Mini App ecosystem. A Bitget spokesperson said third parties offer solutions on Telegram, but most apps only work with certain networks.

The spokesperson considers this tool to be the first offering to integrate with the broader ecosystem. As digital assets move more broadly into the mainstream, projects in the Web3 ecosystem are moving towards creating a more connected industry.

Additionally, on August 6, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin announced plans to resolve interoperability issues on the Ethereum network. According to Buterin, these solutions may surprise many in the field.

On September 18, decentralized exchange (DEX) aggregator 1inch network announced a feature that will enable cross-chain swaps. This feature uses offline and online liquidity to power crypto exchanges.

Bitcoin core developer Jeff Garzik founded the Hemi Network with the aim of “connecting” Ethereum and Bitcoin using tunnels.

Previously, the project’s technology director said that the tunnels enable assets to migrate from Bitcoin to Ethereum, and that this transition will occur without cross-chain bridges. On September 23, TON-based wallet MyTonWallet announced that it will support assets on the Tron blockchain.

These developments contribute to the growth of the Web3 ecosystem and the creation of a more connected world of digital assets. Bitget Wallet’s OmniConnect integration can increase interactions in the cryptocurrency world by allowing Telegram users to more easily make transactions between different blockchains.

This means more opportunities and innovation for users. The acceleration of the transition to Web3 makes it easier to reach a wider audience and adopt digital assets.
