Bahamian Students Win $10,000 in NFT Contest
Five students from the University of Bahamas had the opportunity to explore new horizons of NFT (Non-fungible token) technology by winning $10,000 each with their digital music and art projects.
These awards were distributed within the scope of the NFT Digital Art Project sponsored by the Champ Medici Arts Fund (CMAF), initiated by Cordell Broadus, son of the famous American rapper Snoop Dogg.
Students participating in the competition had the chance to explore the rapidly growing blockchain technology and NFT world by producing digital works of art and music.
According to Bahamian media Eyewitness News, the University of the Bahamas announced the winners of the NFT Digital Art Projects on October 7. In this project, three students were awarded in the Visual Art category and two students were awarded in the Music category.
Each winning student was awarded a $10,000 prize. A student who won an award in the music category stated that he learned more about NFT technology by participating in the competition and was inspired to explore this field in the future.
This competition was an important experience for students who have just stepped into the NFT world. Considering that blockchain technology is a rapidly growing field, these awards allow young artists and musicians to showcase their works and earn money in the digital world.
The Champ Medici Arts Fund (CMAF) behind this project is a $1 million charitable fund launched by Cordell Broadus in collaboration with the Tezos Foundation.
This fund aims to support young and talented artists and musicians around the world. The main purpose of CMAF is to provide financial and technical support to those who want to produce creative and cultural works on the Tezos blockchain.
According to OurNews media, the NFT competition is just the beginning of CMAF’s contributions to the university. CMAF and the Tezos Foundation plan to provide training, materials, and guidance to students on how they can mint, market, and sell their NFTs.
These trainings aim to bring blockchain technology to wider audiences and allow students to independently create their own digital works.
Additionally, the partnership aims to provide the university with the necessary technology and equipment to enable further initiatives in the field of digital art and music. In this way, students will be able to improve their digital arts and undertake more projects on blockchain.
Tezos, included in this project, is a proof-of-stake blockchain platform launched in 2017. Tezos is known as a reliable platform that allows smart contracts to be written and implemented. The platform has a worldwide community and is especially popular among artists and digital creators.
In June 2024, Tezos announced a new upgrade called “Tezos X”. This upgrade offers an integrated blockchain ecosystem that is more advanced than the previous model in terms of performance, compatibility and interoperability. These new features of Tezos X allow artists and creators to create NFTs more easily and effectively in the digital world.
This NFT Digital Art Project, led by Cordell Broadus, was an important step in the field of digital art and blockchain technologies for students at the University of the Bahamas.
Students both won financial rewards and had the opportunity to develop their creative potential in the digital world. With the support of CMAF and Tezos Foundation, these students can undertake larger projects in the NFT world in the future.
