247 Pro-Crypto Candidates Elected to US House of Representatives

With Donald Trump's return to the White House, it was reported that 247 pro-crypto candidates were elected to the US House of Representatives and 15 pro-crypto candidates managed to enter the US Senate.

The 2024 United States elections saw hundreds of pro-crypto candidates elected, with results coming in from across the country.

At the time of writing, pro-crypto authorities have been elected in most states, according to data from Coinbase’s Stand With Crypto (SWC) website. According to the SWC map, only the states of New Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, Vermont and Maine have not yet elected pro-crypto candidates.

According to SWC data, 247 pro-crypto candidates were elected to the House of Representatives, while 113 anti-crypto officials took office. In the Senate, 15 pro-crypto candidates were elected, while 10 anti-crypto candidates won seats.

Crypto advocates donated approximately $206 million to election campaigns, of which approximately $204 million went to Fairshake, a pro-crypto super Political Action Committee, while approximately $3 million was donated to the SWC.

On November 6, pro-crypto Republican Bernie Moreno won the Ohio Senate seat from incumbent Democrat Sherrod Brown. The Brown-Moreno fight was one of the most expensive races in terms of campaign advertising, with more than $500 million spent.

Fairshake spent $40 million on one of the priority races in which Moreno would beat Brown. Major donors included the founders of Coinbase, Ripple Labs and Andreessen Horowitz. Moreno won with 2.8 million votes (50.2%), while Brown received 2.5 million votes (46.4%).

This victory added a pro-crypto politician to the Senate while eliminating an anti-crypto voice. Brown had close ties to Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Gary Gensler, who spearheaded the US regulatory crackdown on the cryptocurrency industry.

Besides winning the Ohio Senate seat, pro-crypto candidates are ahead in other key Senate races in the US election.

In Montana, Tim Sheehy leads Jon Tester by 247,000 votes. Sheehy is rated pro-crypto while Tester is rated neutral by SWC.

In Pennsylvania, the race between Dave McCormick and Bob Casey is pretty close; Both candidates received approximately 3.2 million votes. McCormick is rated pro-crypto, while Casey is rated neutral.

In Wisconsin, the race between Tammy Baldwin and Eric Hovde is also tightly contested, with both candidates receiving nearly 1.6 million votes. While Baldwin took a “strong anti-crypto” stance, Hovde offered some support for the industry.

While the election yielded some positive results for crypto, not all pro-crypto candidates emerged victorious. In Massachusetts, Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren won a clear victory over pro-crypto Republican John Deaton.

While Warren is known as one of the most vocal anti-crypto critics within US politics, Deaton is a well-known crypto advocate who defended XRP holders in Ripple’s legal battle with the SEC.
